Putting up the Christmas tree

Dear Matthew and Toby

At the end of the month we did our usual catch up with Ma Ma, Gumps, Aunty Robyn and Kieran at our place where we put up the Christmas tree and had dinner together.

While we put up the tree we watched, of course, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. I'm sure I've probably written about this before, but this is my mum's side of the family's favourite Christmas movie and it's tradition that we watch this at least once in the build up to Christmas day.

For dinner we had ham and salads and Aunty Robyn made a yummy Christmas ice cream cake for dessert. Matt you enjoyed pulling the bon bons and wearing your paper hat. Toby you have been absolutely captivated by the tree this year, pulling decorations off and then hanging them back up while exclaiming 'did it!!' and clapping your hands. It is the cutest things ever. However unfortunately at one point your excitement for the tree became a little too strong and you pulled the whole thing over!

Looking forward to the season of advent together!

Love you boys,

School disco and catch up with friends

Dear Matthew and Toby

Recently you went to your first school disco Matt! It was so great to see you so excited (especially since we've all been battling glandular fever lately, and you had to have a blood test which wasn't fun) and your dad dressed you in the very fashionable outfit you can see below. Your dad took you and Tobes and I stayed home as I was still feeling unwell but from all reports you had a great time and especially loved the glow rings they had on offer for you to purchase.

On the weekend we also visited with our family-friends Dan, Layla and their daughter Florence. We went down to our usual favourite spot of Point Walter and had a little picnic by the water. You both enjoyed digging in the sand and Matt you loved scooting around on your scooter, as you're so used to the ramps given it's where we catch up with a parents' group we're part of.

It was a lovely weekend!

Love you both,

Letter to Santa

Dear Matthew and Toby

With Christmas fast approaching we decided it was time for Matt to write his letter to Santa. As you can see from the detailed photo below, you did just that Matt and we sent it off to Santa in the North Pole by popping it in the local post box.

Matt, you have asked Santa for a Batbot this year, which is a robot that you can put a little figurine of Batman in, shoot little discs from and move along on crawler tracks by remote control. It will be amazing when this arrives under the tree on Christmas Eve. I think Santa may also try and arrange to bring you a Ryan's Mystery Egg, which is a big plastic egg filled with things like slime, putty, figurines etc. The egg is made by Ryan's Toy World, which is based on this youtube channel, where this little boy called Ryan plays and reviews toys with his mum and dad. You and most other five year olds I know are obsessed with it so I'm sure you'll be over the moon.

Tobes I think you'll be getting a wooden steamroller and a book or two! The benefit of being the second child is that you already have all of Matt's awesome toy's at your disposal, including his scooter that you're getting the hang of using already!

See the last photo from a response from Santa Matt! We are so proud of how loving and kind you are, and how generous you have been this year to children in need. Tobes we're proud of you too of course, you just can't articulate things too well yet (even though your language is out of this world)!

Love you boys and can't wait for Christmas with the two of you!
