Ella's 7th birthday and a Spurs sleepover

Dear Matthew

A few weeks ago it was your cousin Ella's 7th birthday and we celebrated at her house. She had a big blowup water slide which you went down with daddy and Andrew. You enjoyed spending time with your cousins and eating cake! You have become a bit obsessed with blowing out candles so we had to do a few fakes for you :)

That evening we went around to your grandad and Maree's house as the Spurs were playing on their Foxtel sports channel. Your dad and grandad are massive fans so good luck trying to escape being a supporter- as you can tell from the last photo, they've even managed to convert your mum. Although I must admit I can't even name one player...

It was a great weekend with your dad's side of the family.

Love you munchkin,

Your maternal grandparents

Dear Matthew

I thought I'd share these beautiful photos with you of you and your Ma Ma and Gumps. At the moment you are spending three days a week at heir house while mummy is at work so their house has very much become your second home and you get to potter around all day long.

As you can see from the photos, you are loving 'helping' Gumps with the lawn mowing, doing crafts with Ma Ma and just generally mucking around with both of them. It is beautiful to watch your relationships develop and I hope you will treasure your time with them- they are truly amazing, loving people. They teach you so much, love you unconditionally and laugh with you all day long.

They are a big part of our village and we are so, so lucky.

Love you,

Your joy

Dear Matthew

I am the first to admit that some days are tougher than others when looking after a toddler but a few weeks ago we had a particularly good day and stopped into John Oldham Park in the city before picking your dad and aunty up after work/uni. It is so much fun going to the park with you now and you loved the big slide, splashing around in the big puddles and looking at all the birdlife.

Thank you for bringing so much joy to my life - I am not a natural at this mothering business and most days I end up thinking I haven't done a good enough job but on days like this when your face lights up you give me hope that I can at least get better. And for one day, I am enough.

Love you darling,

Dim sum with the fam

Dear Matthew

On the weekend we met your nanna, Aunty Chantel, Andrew and Lachlan in Northbridge for dim sum. It was great to get out and about on a lovely summer's day. You of course insisted on using chopsticks and ran around the restaurant enjoying yourself. You were a bit freaked out when I showed you the crabs and lobsters in the tanks but!

Afterwards we headed to Timezone where you were in your element hitting crocodiles' heads!

Before we left we also had ice cream from cold rock which silenced you for a good twenty minutes - you are my ice cream-aholic!

Love you baby boy,

Belated birthday catch up at Piney Lakes

Dear Matthew,

As your dad and I didn't have parties to celebrate our birthdays, we caught up with our uni friends and their kids on the weekend after we'd gotten back from Singapore down at Piney Lakes in Bateman. It was a lovely catch up and we were grateful the weather was tolerable given that it had been in the 40's practically all week. You loved feeding the ducks, playing with sticks and kicking the soccer ball around with Thatcher, Oliver and Marlow (baby Samuel was also there but at 5 months he wasn't quite ready to join in!).

You loved playing with your monster truck that Thatcher and Marlow got you for Christmas.

I'm again so grateful that we have these wonderful friends in our lives - we are so blessed.

Love you darling,

Mum xxx
