Mother's Group Christmas catch up

 Dear Matthew and Toby

We recently held our annual Mother's Group catch up for Christmas at our local part in Willagee. We had a lovely morning playing on the play equipment and attempted to take a photo of all you kids together (now totalling 8 kids!) which of course was mayhem! We did get a photo of Matt, Charlotte and Chloe, the original three kids though, in the same order as the photo I took of you three six years ago in the library on the Dr Seus quilt (see below).  We are very lucky to still be in close contact with these lovely families after so many years.

Love you boys,

First School Assembly

Dear Matthew and Toby

At the end of this month you had your first school assembly Matt! Of course the Pre-Primarys were putting on the Nativity play and it was the cutest thing ever.

I was super proud of you because you had been given the role of a narrator and had practiced your line 'It was peaceful that night' over and over again, although a few times it ended up coming out 'it was toilet that night' etc, following by howls of laughter.

On the day of the assembly you wore your Christmas outfit and had decided to wear reindeers antlers (despite the fact that they kept falling off). I had warned you they may fall off when saying your line, but you were adamant you wanted to wear them. Inevitably they did fall off mid-speech, but the most amazing thing happened - you put them back up, said your line again, and got on with it. THIS is what I wanted for you when I feel pregnant with you Matt - to have resilience in the face of adversity, and you have it in spades! I couldn't have been more proud of you that you encountered a problem, dealt with it, and didn't let it impact you greatly. It was truly inspiring and I'm so proud of you for just rolling with the punches. Dealing with small issues such as this so well, having practiced managing situations when they don't always go to plan, is such an important life skill, and here you doing so at just age 6. Absolute superstar in my books.

School Disco

Dear Matthew and Toby

We recently went to your school disco Matt and it was great fun. This time last year I didn't get to take you as I went getting over glandular fever (in fact we all were but it had hit me particularly badly on the day of your disco) so I didn't know what to expect but loved how much fun you both had.

It was held in the atrium between some of the classrooms at your school and the DJ was great, picking new songs as well as classics and you and your friends absolutely loved dancing around. You have always loved dancing Matt, and you have some great spinning moves! Tobes, you have become quite attached to 'Joey' (your toy kangaroo that we got you after you become obsessed with Matt's class's shared toy that went home with the class 'star of the week') and you loved being on the dancefloor with him and all the big kids!

Matt you even won the prize for the hoop game, where you had to run through hoops in a line and if the music went off while you were between hoops you were out - and you won some glow sticks, the ultimate disco prize!! Tobes, as you can see from the photos, you didn't love glow sticks :)

Trick or treating!

Dear Matthew and Toby

For Halloween this year we did our usual of heading down to my work for trick or treating in the halls of residence and some fun activities with the study abroad students (mostly Americans).

Matt you dressed as Spiderman again (you love him so much) and Tobes you went in your favourite costume - a construction worker. You both looked very cute (as you can see below). You did some colouring in and some crafts and then you went upstairs to knock on each of the dorm room doors. Matt as you've done this many times before and because there is great incentive to knock on each of the doors you were very happy to do so, and Tobes after you cottoned on to what was offered from each of the students (ie. yummy lollies) you were happy as Larry too!

It was a lovely afternoon and I love that you are both aware of where I work and have positive connotations to my workplace!

Love you both,
