Your dad's 34th birthday

Dear Matthew

Last Sunday night we celebrated your dad’s 34th birthday with a dinner at Mexican Kitchen in Fremantle. Your dad and I have fond memories of this place from our student/younger days and the huge meals didn’t disappoint. You had fun playing under the table with some toys and eating some rice (does this sound familiar!?).

We then headed back to our house for some epic cake (again made by your aunty Robyn) however you were so tired that you passed out in the car. Your dad was a bit sad that he was the only one blowing out his candles!

It was a lovely evening and I hope your dad enjoyed it J

Watching the planes, lions and ducks!

Dear Matthew

The past couple of weeks we’ve had a lot of fun getting up to some great activities.
For starters we visited Jandakot airport so that you could watch the planes and helicopters take off and land. They even had a designated area with picnic style seating, grass and a cafĂ© set up just so people can enjoy the action on the runway! Apparently it’s been around for 16 years but I had no idea.
Last weekend we went with your Ma Ma to a local night market in Melville and checked out the stalls (it was at the Dr Seuss park so you also had plenty of fun playing on the playground). They also had a Chinese group who put on traditional music and lion dancing. I have always LOVED lion dancing, the rhythm and colours are amazing to watch, and you were pretty good with it until the lion got right up in your face! You then clung on to me and your Ma Ma for dear life!
Yesterday we went back to Yunderup for afternoon tea and dinner at Aunty’s house. Uncle Bruno was very kind and took us all out for a ride on his boat to spot the ducks, which of course you loved. We then had a very Italian dinner of cutlets in tomato sauce and salad. You also enjoyed trying to catch nets in the bait-less crab nets (who would have guessed that we didn't catch any crabs? You were still very eager to check though) :) What was extra awesome was that we drove all the way down and back to Yunderup without you getting upset at all- how far we have come! My little baby boy you wouldn’t drive more than five minutes without screaming now travels so easily!
Love you my darling,

First day of pre-kindy

 Dear Matthew

On Wednesday 1st February 2017 you officially had your first day of school! Well, of pre-kindy anyway! I can't believe how quickly this day arrived - the last couple of years have absolutely flown past and now I'm doing drop offs and pick ups! Crazy.

Anyway I wasn't sure how you were going to go on your first day as you've never been to daycare nor spent time away from a family member. I had been speaking with you over the summer about what was going to happen at pre-kindy, who your teacher was and constantly reassuring you that mummy would go to 'work' but, like always, she would 'come back'.

The first session you didn't have any issues with drop off, just kissed me goodbye and said 'see you later mummy!'. I was so proud! You had done it without having a breakdown - so independent! When I picked you up at the end of the session Miss Blair (your teacher) said you'd gotten a bit upset when you were asked to sit on the mat but didn't want to, but I still considered it a win!

Unfortunately the following week's session I must have fed you something dodgy because you ended up vomiting during the session but were otherwise fine. Hooray!!

So proud of my beautiful boy growing up and enjoying spending time with your teachers and friends. Hopefully it's the start of a wonderful school experience.

Love you,

Mum xxx

P.S. Below are some of my favourite photos of you, ever!

January birthdays

Dear Matthew

A week or two ago we celebrated my birthday and your Ma Ma's birthday by going out to dinner at a new Chinese restaurant, the Emperor's Kitchen in Leeming.

You had fun playing with your magnetic shapes and hiding under the table (of course while doing a poo). I'm pretty sure you only ate about three spoonful's of rice the whole dinner but you had fun nonetheless. I enjoyed the deep fried octopus- yum!

Your aunty Robyn had made the cake which we enjoyed back at our house. I have the funniest video of you trying to blow out the candles and slobbering all over it :)

Another year with my beautiful boy - I am such a lucky mum!

Love you gorgeous boy,
