Aunty Chantel's birthday

Dear Matthew and Toby

The weekend after we brought Toby home from hospital, we set out to Henley Brook to celebrate your Aunty Chantel's birthday with a meal at the local pub, The Brook. It was an awesome venue as all the kids could run around on the huge grassed area (which they of course did, including you Matt) while us adults relaxed outside on the picnic tables.

Toby, you also got to meet your cousins Lachlan, Mikayla, Ella and Harry and they all doted on you. You were pretty happy throughout the dinner, all rugged up in your blanket being passed from one family member to the next. This seems to be trend - so long as you are outside and against a warm body, you sleep happily!

Your dad ordered some yummy deep fried jalapenos and soft cheese and I scoffed a huge serving of fish and chips. One of the waitresses was shocked that you, Toby, were out and about at only eight days old.

We celebrated your Aunty Chantel's 37th birthday with delicious homemade cake alla Darryl before heading back to your nanna's house for a sleepover.

Leaving the hospital

Dear Matthew and Toby

Two days after Toby was born we were ready to leave the hospital. It was also Father's Day, so I wanted to get home to catch up with all the dads. Your poor dad had to wake up at home with no pressies, but luckily I was able to email him the details of the console I'd ordered a month or so prior, so he didn't go without completely.

Your dad and Matt picked Toby and I up from the hospital and off we went home. Matt, in the car you asked some interesting questions about Toby, the best of which was along the lines of 'when are Toby's mum and dad picking him up? Are they at the shops?'. Your dad and I had to smile and gently explain that actually his mum and dad are your mum and dad... but you seemed to accept it without a hassle.

When we got home your Aunty Chantel, Uncle Andrew, Saffy, Quentin, Grandad and Maree came over to celebrate Father's Day with lunch at our house (thankfully they brought all the food!!). In the evening we then went over to Ma Ma and Gumps' house for dinner. Needless to say your third day on earth, your first out of the hospital, was a bit hectic! But lovely to see all the dads on their special day.

Toby meets the family

Dear Matthew and Toby

After Toby joined the family we had plenty of people that wanted to meet him. In the evening after his birth Ma Ma, Gumps and Aunty Robyn came to the hospital and brought Matt with them. It was beautiful to watch siblings meet for the first time. Matt, you were so gentle with Toby and four weeks on you have shown no signs of jealousy, welcoming him into our family so beautifully.

The following day your Grandad and Maree as well as Nanna and Darryl came to meet you and have a little cuddle.

We also had some professional photos done of Toby (I'll put them in another post) and that's when I definitely started to realise how alike my two boys are! Toby, you are like a mini version of Matt and I can't wait to see how similar you two look as you grow up. I like the fact that I look like my siblings so I'm glad you two will have that in common too.

So lucky to be the proud mum to two handsome boys.

Love,
