Daddy's birthday and Araleun

Dear Matthew and Toby

For your daddy's birthday this year we met his side of the family out for breakfast at a cafe near the river with an awesome playground for you kids. In the evening we had dinner at my parents' place and ate yummy Thai food. It was a beautiful summer's day and I hope your dad enjoyed it.

We also recently went on another trip to Araleun for a picnic. You boys enjoyed exploring the beautiful gardens and water falls. Unfortunately our dad and I were bitten on our toes by these massive, painful bull ants (the size of a cockroach) that dug their needles into us and wouldn't let go! Luckily neither of you were bitten as these things stung as badly as bees! I'd never experienced anything like this despite living in Australia all my life. Anyway you both enjoyed clambering over the rocks and having leaf races in the water. Afterwards we also tried to check out the local dam but it was bit difficult with the tracks around it so we called it a day.

Love adverturing with my boys,

Matt's first day of year 1

Dear Matthew and Toby

When February rolls around, you know what that means - back to school! Matt, that meant you were starting in year 1! As much as you loved being on school holidays, you were very excited to start. You got ready nice and early and we found our way to your new classroom at school. Your new teacher is Mrs Carrello and you have some favourite friends in your class this year, including Michael, Archie, Georgia, Cluadia and Oliver. You hung your bag on your hook and we unpacked all your books and pencils etc into your tray and then you found your chair. You were very happy to be at school :)

After school you said you'd had a great day but that you 'didn't get to play' and I had to explain to you that unfortunatly year 1 involves a bit more structured learning than Pre-Primary, with less free play time. The next few days you kept saying the same thing but by the end of the week you'd had time for a play and were super happy!

Love you my beautiful boys,
