Lockdown 3.0 and Anzac Day on the driveway (again)

Dear Matthew, Toby and Josie

Well we ended up in another lockdown for a few days recently, unfortunately the virus got in on a Friday afternoon and by 6pm the whole of the Perth and Peel regions were locked down again. It fell over the Anzac Day weekend, so we paid our respects to the soldiers who fought for us by lighting a candle at the end of our driveway again and listening to the last post play out across the suburb again. Luckily after a few more days our cases were back under control and we were allowed to leave the house and (most importantly) return to the playgrounds, even if us adults had to be wearing masks. I didn't mind spending a few days in the house with everyone, as you can see from the photos we had fun! We also didn't have to homeschool, and being on parental leave still I didn't have to work, so in comparison to last year's massive lockdown, this was a walk in the park!! But of course I felt sorry for the soldiers who couldn't be with their comrades and the businesses who lost money from shut down. It's an odd feeling to be so grateful and guilty at the same time- a pandemic brings up endless feelings!

Love you all,

Mandurah

Dear Matthew, Toby and Josie

These school holidays we headed back down to Mandurah for another little family holiday. Tobes and Jose, we took the train together while Matt, you drove with daddy and picked us up at the station. This meant Josie was less likely to get upset in the car and we had a great time talking about all the different things out the window of the train!

We stayed at the Atrium Hotel in Mandurah, which has a great pool for you all to swim in. The decore looked like it hadn't changed since the 80's so we had a good laugh over that, but it was nice and central and free breaky each morning!

We visited the miniature world and mini golf place with your cousins the next day. They had some great mazes for you all to play in too. We also went to your Nanna and Darryl's place and you boys got to go on the boat and went crabbing. You caught a couple of crabs and I showed you how to de-shell them once they were cooked back at their house. I loved that you had an experience crabbing, just like I did as a kid at my aunty and uncle's place in Yunderup.

We also went out for dinner with your cousins for fish and chips at one of the restaurants at Mandurah Quay and then walked around looking at all the 'giant' sea creatures and taking photos.

It was a lovely chilled couple of days away and I loved spending time with all my babies.

Love you,
