Christmas catch ups and activities

Dear Matthew

In the lead up to Christmas we had a few Christmas catch ups and did some fun activities together.

We visited your great-nan and great-grandad at their house the week before Christmas as we wouldn't be seeing them on the big day and you had fun running around in their yard and playing with their toys of course. We enjoyed some yummy Christmas cake and you stole plenty of chocolate biscuits :)

We also made some tree decorations of your hand prints and gave them to each set of grandparents and great-grandparents. In the kitchen together with daddy we made some rocky road as well as attempted some red and green coloured Christmas scrolls (these ended in disaster but tasted delicious).

On the Monday before Christmas we also had our last official Mother's Group regular catch up (because work and study schedules in 2017 mean we don't have a day to catch up together anymore). We went to Zephyr Café in East Fremantle and you enjoyed playing on the playground and swimming in the river with Charlotte, Chloe, Lily and Alice. I am really going to miss them and their mums and I know you will too- it has been almost a regular weekly catch up for three years straight so it's odd to think we won't be seeing them every week. But that is life... it ebbs and flows and I'm sure there will come a time when we see them again more often. I know Chloe is going to be in your kindy class in 2018 so we'll definitely be seeing her lots more then!

Love you beautiful boy,

Rose's 1st birthday party

Dear Matthew

The weekend before Christmas we celebrated my cousin Anna's little girl Rose turning 1 with a pool party in her backyard.

It was a beautiful summer's day and Anna had borrowed plenty of fun blow up toys for all the kids to play on (see the photos below) so you were in your element all day enjoying them.

You also got to blow out your own special cupcake and ate a tonne of sugary sweets.

It was lovely to watch you play with all of my cousins kids, especially Joey and Leo who are only a few months older than you and of a similar temperament. We're looking forward to you spending more time with them when we go down to their farm in Cowaramup over new years.

Love you,

Final playgroup session

Dear Matthew

A few weeks ago it was your final day at playgroup. I was so sad this playgroup was finishing up given we have really enjoyed going. It was such a relief to attend a place where you didn't need to do any organised activities (we left gymbakids half way through the term because you were simply refusing to do any of the floor work) and the mums have been an amazing support network over the past year.

To celebrate our last day we had a little Christmas party for all of the kids and you wore the Christmas outfit that your Ma Ma made for you especially. Afterwards we went to the nearby lake to feed the geese and ducks. Hopefully we can stay in touch with the mums and kids through Facebook and organise some play dates in the future.

Can't believe my big boy will be attending kindy in only a month or so! Where has the time gone!

Love you,

Mikayla's 9th birthday party

Dear Matthew

Last Saturday we celebrated your cousin Mikayla's 9th birthday party. She had a disco themed party with about 20 of her friends.

I was expecting you to get a little overwhelmed with all the kids that were at aunty Chantel's place but you didn't, you loved it! So much so that when all the kids filled a plate with food and went and sat on the floor to eat in the playroom, you followed suite! Even better, when they were playing pass the parcel, you were confident enough to plonk yourself down in the middle of the circle (see the photo below)! It was hilarious! You are had a good go at smashing the piñata :)

I remember the day Mikayla was born and can't believe next year she'll be in double digits. The years have certainly flown. It is a timely reminder that every day is precious and to grab every opportunity that comes your way!

Love you my darling boy,

Pre-Kindy orientation

Dear Matthew

Last Monday we had your Pre-Kindy orientation where you met your teacher, Ms Blair and had a play in your classroom and playground area.

You had a great time and were especially fascinated by the tadpoles they have in your classroom and barely even noticed that I was still there. It was great to see so many boys in your class too (you only have eight or so kids in your class and it looks like at least five are boys) given you seem to have been predominantly surrounded by girls since birth!

We talked about what school would involve however when I said to you that next time we came to school mummy would head off to work for a bit you instantly grabbed on to me and said 'NO MUMMY' so we'll see how things go in February haha! I have complete confidence in my little boy that you will transition well (at least after a few weeks) and make life-long friends.

It is such an exciting time in your life. I really enjoyed my primary school years and am just so happy you're attending my old primary school!

Love you my big school boy!
