Pre-Kindy orientation

Dear Matthew

Last Monday we had your Pre-Kindy orientation where you met your teacher, Ms Blair and had a play in your classroom and playground area.

You had a great time and were especially fascinated by the tadpoles they have in your classroom and barely even noticed that I was still there. It was great to see so many boys in your class too (you only have eight or so kids in your class and it looks like at least five are boys) given you seem to have been predominantly surrounded by girls since birth!

We talked about what school would involve however when I said to you that next time we came to school mummy would head off to work for a bit you instantly grabbed on to me and said 'NO MUMMY' so we'll see how things go in February haha! I have complete confidence in my little boy that you will transition well (at least after a few weeks) and make life-long friends.

It is such an exciting time in your life. I really enjoyed my primary school years and am just so happy you're attending my old primary school!

Love you my big school boy!

Christmas preparations are underway!

Dear Matthew,

It's not even December yet but Christmas preparations are well underway!

We started back in October by helping your Ma Ma and Gumps put up the family tree (and left them to put up the 8 or 9 others on their own). Last week we had a family and friends Christmas lunch at Ma Ma and Gumps house and you had fun playing with my cousin Anna's daughter Rose (lovingly referred to by you as 'baby Rose).

Then on the weekend we were invited to your friends Thatcher and Marlow's grandad's house for their family Christmas get together (as they are leaving for Canada for Christmas in a few days) and you loved exploring their cubby and swimming in their lovely and warm pool!

On Sunday night your Ma Ma and Gumps came over to our house for Sunday roast and we put up the Christmas tree while watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, as per tradition. You helped Gramps put the star on the tree and were fascinated by the Peppa Pig bauble we bought you a few years ago for your collection.

Yesterday your friends Oliver and Samuel visited and you had a great time playing with them and giving them their Christmas presents too. In the afternoon you also discovered that the advent calendar was filled with chocolates- so you grabbed a basket and told me to get out of the room while you proceeded to collect the chocolates into your basket! Love it!

We have also been making handprint tree decorations for your grandparents and great-grandparents and I've been cross-stitching a quote from Christmas Vacation for Ma Ma so we are definitely getting into the spirit of things!

It's such a great time of year!

Love you my little elf,

Quentin's 7th birthday and a trip to Hillarys

Dear Matthew

Last Sunday we celebrated your step-cousin Quentin's 7th birthday party at an inflatable indoor playground in Joondalup.

You had a great time playing on the inflatable toys, although unfortunately at one point you and Harry butted heads and you came away with a blood lip. You were happy again once it was time for chips and juice and you enjoyed scoffing down a big piece of birthday cake.

It was great to catch up with all the family. We also had a lovely time catching up with your cousins at Hillarys last week for a swim and some fish and chips (see the first photo below). You're so lucky to have so many cousins who love you! I hope you cherish their friendships and stay connected with them as you grow older.

All my love,
