Dear Matthew and Toby
A few weekends ago we took a Sunday trip to the hills and
visited Araleun, which is a beautiful public park which has an amazing display
of tuplips in Spring. It also has a running brook through it. I used to visit
Aaleun as a kid with my cousins and play on the rocks that the brook runs over
(see all the photos below) for hours on end so have many happy memories
associated with Araluen.
Anyway, we headed out with a small picnic and parked up the
top of the park. We then made out way down through one of the gardens to the
water. We had a few snacks and daddy and Matt practiced walking back and forth
a log that was balanced across the water. Matt, I was so proud of you for
attempting this and going across and back so well, you concentrated and took it
slowly but didn’t slip once. We had a nice little picnic here before following
the stream down further. It was then that we came across the rocks that are
cemented in my memory. They were slippery and at one point you landed on your
bum Matt but we had a great time crossing the rocks from one side of the brook
to the other and racing leaves together. I was so impressed by how confident
you both were playing in this beautiful spot.
We kept following the brook further down before we had to
make our way back into the centre of the park (where there was a beautiful
waterfall). We had another small picnic before deciding to call it a day, then
had to make our way back up to the car which was a bit of a hike/attempt not to
get lost. Matt you loved using the map we were given of the park to explore and
Tobes you enjoyed spotting the tadpoles in the water.
It was a beautiful outing and hopefully we can head back
another time with your own cousins to make more memories.
Love you both,
