Park trip with Jorge

 Dear Matthew and Toby

This post is mainly for Toby, to remember how much you love your little friend Jorge. 

Jorge is my friend Robyn's eldest son, who is about six or seven months older than you Tobes. We met through a playgroup for attachment parents and you absolutely clicked with goegrous Jorge over the last year or so. It is so nice to see you two beautiful blondies running around together getting up to mischief! You seem to have your own little language and understanding of each other and you're both always giggling away :)

We recently went to a Manning Park in Hamilton Hill and you both loved playing on the playground, scooting, wading in the pond and running around like nutters together. It is so lovely to see you develop this and other friendships, lead by Matt's excellent example of being a great friend.

Another Zoo trip!

Dear Matthew and Toby

Recently Toby and I made a visit to the zoo as Matt was at school. It was nice to be able to do this again after the zoo had been closed due to COVID. It was also nice to have a little outing just the two of us Tobes, as I'm getting keenly aware that our time with you as our youngest is coming to a close, as your baby sibling is due in only a few months. 

So we took a stroll around to the exhibits you wanted to see - namely, as usual, the kangaroos on the Australian Bushwalk. Amazingly, one of the wallabies came right up to you and let you touch it! It was such a beautiful moment and you couldn't stop smiling and laughing. Afterwards we also went over the pebble stones near the front of the zoo where you can spot fake tortoises in the water, which you loved too. 

I loved spending one-on-one time with you Tobes. As much as I'm going to be sad that we won't have as many opportunities to do things like this, I know you and Matt will be wonderful big brothers to your baby sibling and will hopefully love being one of three just like I am.

Catching up with your cousins

Dear Keene Kids

Since we've had a lot more restrictions lift lately we've been able to meet up with your cousins for some much needed play time! We've been to both Point Walter and Matilda Bay and you've both loved re-connecting with your wonderful cousins after quite some time apart. Luckily through the magic of technology you were always able to see and speak with them during lockdown but it was lovely to see you all playing together again side-by-side. The autumn weather in Perth has been perfect and you all really enjoyed catching up together, climbing trees and playing in the water. The pandemic has certainly created a new way of thinking, in that we now really purposefully create moments of connection because we never know when a second wave may hit and therefore when our freedom will be taken away again. It is truly the best medicine for making sure we live in the moment and seize opportunities when they present themselves. May you never lose this feeling of capturing each day for what it is - an endless chance for connection with others.

Leaves!

Dear Keene Kids

That time of year has come around again, and we had your annual 'photos in the leaves' outside your grandparents' house this month. When we went into lockdown I remember chatting to Ma Ma and Gumps about how we may have to do our leaves photos in their front yard while they looked out through the windows, but came to the conclusion that I'd rather not do them at all then have that scenario, as it all seemed to sad. Gratefully we have found ourselves living in the safest place in the world during a global pandemic, so you can freely enjoy running through the leaves with your grandparents without worrying about the implications of doing so. 

It was a fun photoshoot, you both seemed to be ok with me taking your annual shots, although dare I say it next year may be a bit tricky trying to get three kidliwinks to all smile for the camera surrounded by leaves! Bring on the challenge haha!
